Sports/ Match Report: 2022 President’s Cup – Hearts 2-1 Kotoko – Patrick Razak’s magical moment wins first trophy of the season for Phobians by Profty1(m) : 9:04 pm On Mar 07

Attacker Patrick Razak climbed off the bench to snatch the match-winner for Hearts of Oak as the Phobians defeated the Porcupine Warriors 2-1 to lift the 2022 President’s Cup in Accra on Friday evening.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh hit the opening goal for the Rainbow Club but, Samuel Boateng climbed off the substitute bench to level matters up for the Porcupine Warriors.

It was another substitute who decided the fate of the game as Patrick Razak employed his blistering pace to break the Kotoko defensive line before rounding up the goalkeeper to slot home the winner.

The victory means the reigning Ghana Premier League champions have scooped the first available trophy.

Isaac Mensah saw his goal-bound striker from 20 yards tipped by Danlad Ibrahim and further deflected off-course by the crossbar.

Prior to that, Cameroonian forward Franck Etouga Mbella had come close with Kotoko’s biggest moment of the game when he twisted and turned his marker inside the area but couldn’t beat Richard Attah.

Sulley Muntari threw stadium-wide applauds when he nearly scored from a free-kick on the 40th-minute mark. The ex-Inter Milan midfielder attempted an audacious effort from 25 yards but his effort was palmed to a corner by Danlad.

Muntari was the first to present Samuel Boadu’s men their first big chance of the second stanza when his attempted shot was collected by the Porcupine Warriors’ goalkeeper.

Five minutes after the break, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored the opening goal for the Phobians when he drilled a powerful low ball past Danlad Ibrahim.

Hearts’ game in the opening 15 minutes of the second-half was engineered by Muntari as he had a free-kick and a corner both saved by Danlad.

Richmond Lamptey was withdrawn around the hour mark with Richard Boadu taking his place to introduce more energy and power to the middle.

Boadu’s first notable involvement was a foul he committed against Obeng Junior around the Kotoko area.

Substitute Samuel Boateng fired the equaliser just moments after he was introduced by Prosper Narteh. The attacker stole the ball from Robert Addo and fired a shot which deflected off Mohammed Alhassan and beat Attah in the Hearts goal.

Muntari, Salim Adams, and Isaac Mensah were withdrawn for Patrick Razak, Gladson Awako, and Suraj Mohammed respectively with 8 minutes left to play.

And, Razak struck the match-winner for the Phobians when he outpaced two Kotoko defenders in an explosive counter-attacking move to round up Danlad and slot into the empty net for the decider.

news/ Find in Ghana’s Energy Sector a Friend and a Partner – Dr. Prempeh to Investors by Profty1(m) : 6:37 am On Mar 08

Energy Minister Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has asked Energy Business leaders and Decision makers to find in Ghana’s energy sector, a friend and a partner. Speaking at an Energy Investment Forum organized by the Ministry of Energy on the sidelines of EXPO 2020 in Dubai, UAE, Dr. Prempeh said Ghana’s energy sector is awash with plethora of opportunities which could be the basis for mutually beneficial partnerships.

The Energy Minister said in Ghana, Exploration and Production (E&P) licenses are awarded through open, transparent and competitive public tender processes. However, he added that E&P licenses may be awarded through direct negotiations without public tender if direct negotiations represent the most efficient manner to achieve optimal exploration, development and production of petroleum resources in a defined area.

“There are also farm-in opportunities in some of the existing licenses for prospective investors to operate through existing Petroleum Agreements without having to go through block application and negotiation processes” he said
He continued “Ghana’s sedimentary basins are de-risked and highly prospective and our petroleum industry is regulated by clear, predictable and suitable fiscal, legal and regulatory regimes.

In the downstream petroleum sector, The Minister who is also Member of Parliament for Manhyia South said Ghana aspires to become a hub for refined petroleum products in the West African sub-region and beyond, and thus the establishment of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC). He said the hub will host infrastructure such as refineries, port terminal facilities, storage facilities, petrochemical plants as well as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals with a network of pipelines.

In the power sector, the Minister said the generation, transmission and distribution value chain presents opportunities to the private sector. “Our quest to promote energy efficiency in electrical appliances, among others within the context of scaling up 10% renewable energy penetration by 2030 brings key opportunities for strategic investor partnership” he added.

Through info-documentaries and presentations, the Ministry’s agencies explained the current projects in their sectors that needs financing and strategic partnerships.
The Minister assured prospective investors of Ghana’s robust legal and regulatory framework anchored on the respect for the rule of law and the high regard for democratic accountability.

“I am confident that Ghana will impress you, if you choose to invest in its energy sector” Dr. Prempeh concluded

news/ Devil’s agents on social media called Influencers, celebrities blamed for rise in Teenage Pregnancy by Profty1(m) : 10:20 pm On Apr 07

A Bolgatanga-based Pentecost Church of Ghana Pastor believes the devil has sent his agents in the form of celebrities to influence young ladies especially on social media.

He says this has led to the rise of teenage pregnancy as young girls are now influenced by the life led by some celebrities who influence them negatively.

The Bukere District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region who spoke to Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM said these celebrities and influencers have made pre-marital sex and sexual explicitness look normal.

Pastor Francis Amogre noted that although the Church is trying its bit to fight against the canker of teenage pregnancy, the efforts of the Church seem to be in vain as the infiltration of foreign culture and the devil is stronger.

“Teenage pregnancy has been a serious challenge and we had been battling it years back and we are still battling it. Being a religious man and for that matter, a pastor, I will say that the devil has sent some people to propagate its message. You see these well-to-do people that sometimes they call themselves celebrities or maybe the slay queens or whatever they call them, they come to social media, talk about sex plainly and they make it fashionable. They make the people feel if you don’t engage in sex, you are not civilized,” he stated.

He added, “We agree that the bible is not our indigenous culture, we accepted it from foreign country, and it is helping us. However, there is also another foreign culture that has also brought something called ‘civilization’. And people think they are now civilized, people think that the foreign people they behave this way and they have adopted it which is a big problem that the church is facing.

Sometimes, you would want to advise the people with the messages of the bible and people are bringing the new world’s view. There is something called the new world’s view which mostly is coming from the western and European countries. So I think that the church is using the bible to do our best but the influence of the foreign culture also has a negative impact on the people. These are some of the things that are causing these teenage pregnancies and the problem that it is bringing to our society”.

To Pastor Francis Amogre there is the need for more to be done in the fight against immorality.

He indicated that the Church will continue to do its bid and fight pre-marital sex indicating that it will not encourage the use of contraceptives that will encourage the youth to engage in sexual activities.
